At Al Sahwa, students from grades 6–10 follow the IB Middle Years Program (MYP).
The IB MYP is a balanced and academically rigorous programme of international education designed for students aged 11 to 16, a period which is a critical phase of personal and intellectual development. The MYP empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally.
The MYP Curriculum
The curriculum framework is designed to help students become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. At Al Sahwa, we believe that teaching, learning and assessment are an inclusive, continuous cyclic process, which should inform all stakeholders about the impact and efficiency of the learning processes. This creates space for feedback and reflections for further improvement.
We strive to develop active lifelong learners and internationally minded young people who can empathise with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The MYP builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the Primary School (the IB Primary Years Programme) and prepares students for entry to the demanding requirements of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or the GED program coordinated by the OmanMinistry of Education.
For further information on how we embrace the MYP at Al Sahwa Schools, please see our MYP Handbooks in the sidebar.
Preparation for High School
In their final MYP year, students begin a rigorous counselling and course selection program as they make important decisions about subject choices, qualifications and career options.
