The Al Sahwa Kindergarten and Primary school has the feel of a small community with a big heart. Using the IB PYP framework, students and their parents are welcomed into our close-knit community and flourish in this environment. Our values of Respect, Service and Integrity resonate in teaching, learning and our actions.
“Omwana ni wa bhone” is an African proverb which means a child’s upbringing belongs to the community. At Al Sahwa, we are that community and each of us is responsible for the wellbeing of every student.
An Engaging Curriculum
Learning is engaging, interactive and relevant to students and their interests. Through the programme of inquiry, students have the opportunity to ask questions, discover and make meaning of the world around them. They are empowered to develop communication, self-management, research, thinking and social skills and become self-regulated learners; displaying agency and taking action.
Each class from KG1 to Grade 3 is supported by a homeroom teacher and assistant. In addition, Arabic, Specialist and Learning support teachers all work together to ensure that each child’s needs are met and that every student experiences success.
More information about the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) at Al Sahwa Schools can be found below.
“As an alumnus of Al Sahwa Schools, the vision and mission of the school has always been to build a community that is rich with the heritage and omani culture but with an international twist which offers students the opportunity of learning in an open-minded environment but still keeping their values close to heart.”

- Broad-ranging, in-depth, articulated curriculum content.
- Explore what it means to be Omani; celebrating learners own identity and culture.
- Contribute to the common ground that unifies the curriculums in all PYP schools.
PYP Exhibition
All IB programmes include a culminating or consolidating learning experience in their final year. The PYP Exhibition is a culminating learning experience for Grade 5 learners prior to transitioning to the MYP.
In the PYP exhibition, learners demonstrate their understanding of an issue or opportunity they have chosen to explore. They undertake their investigation both individually and with their peers, together with the guidance of a mentor. The exhibition is a powerful demonstration of the learner agency, as well as the agency of the community that has nurtured them through their years in the PYP. The Exhibition is student-initiated and designed. The learning community participates in the exhibition, supporting and celebrating the development of internationally minded students who make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of others.
